Postdoctoral Position in Genomics

The SARChI Chair in Fungal genomics at the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute at the University of Pretoria, (https://www.fabinet.up.ac.za/index.php) seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow for research on the genetics and genomics of tree pathogenic fungi.

We sequenced the first fungal genome on the continent and now have literally hundreds of genomes to work with. The successful candidate in addition to having their own project will support the work of students needing to assemble and annotate fungal genomes. In addition some students projects include RNAseq and proteomic data.

Eligibility and stipends:
- Project duration: Two years starting in June/July 2022
- Stipend: R200 000 per annum
- Minimum educational requirement: PhD in Biochemistry,Bioinformatics or Microbiology
- Additional requirements: Experience in analysis of large datasets and statistics
